There are a variety of evidence-based treatments that can help with a number of different mental health issues or life difficulties.

At Dandelion Suites

We offer a range of different psychological interventions and will develop an individualised treatment plan that will best suit your needs.

Treatment approaches typically include:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you to understand the link between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.  It uses cognitive restructuring and behavioural principles to help you to change thoughts or worries and to increase activity and pleasant events that makes your life worth living.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a skills-based treatment designed to help you understand your emotions, cope better with distressing feelings and events, improve your relationship with others and balance your own needs and wants with those of others. It was initially developed to treat people with Borderline Personality Disorder, however now has far wider applications. Skills typically cover areas of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT)

SFT places emphasis on a person’s present and future circumstance and goals rather than past experiences. This therapy explores the skills, resources and abilities that a person needs to acquire in order to meet those goals.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy is therapy designed to assist people to manage having experienced a traumatic event.  There are several different approaches included under this collective term.

Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT)

EFT is a therapeutic approach based on the idea that emotions are key to identity. According to EFT, emotions are also a guide for individual choice and decision making. This type of therapy assumes that lacking emotional awareness or avoiding unpleasant emotions can be harmful and may make it difficult for us to use the important information that emotions provide.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

IPT is a time-limited, focussed evidence -based approach to treating mood disorders. It aims to provide skills in 4 main areas including: social isolation, unresolved grief, difficult life transitions and interpersonal disputes.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps people to accept their thoughts and feelings without fighting them or feeling guilty.  It helps people to develop psychological flexibility and to combine mindfulness skills and self-acceptance with a commitment to facing problems head on, rather than avoiding them.
